A new research initiative launched at the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence (CFI) with a philanthropic gift from Virgin Media O2.
Digital technologies are part of everyday life, but there’s little evidence about how newer forms of AI affect our wellbeing. The funding will enable the establishment of a Digital Wellbeing Observatory, aiming to ensure that public experience informs and shapes discourse on technology, wellbeing, and the future of digital life.
For the next five years the Digital Wellbeing Observatory will track how British public are using digital technologies and its effects on wellbeing. The team of CFI researchers – Dr Eleanor Drage, Dr Dorian Peters and Dr Tomasz Hollanek– will carry multi-year national surveys, community-based workshops and roadshows, engaging communities across the country.
